This month we present Dave Fulton, the veteran American comic who presents topical and dark humor like few Americans can. His comedy takes risks and is deadly smart.

The English Comedy Club at Manala is a great show on the first Friday of each month. We present 2 touring comedians along with the best local performers all in English.
Our special guest this month is Bec Hill from Australia. Her acclaimed solo shows and hugely popular YouTube videos which have garnered over 100,000 views globally have gained her a cult status in both Australia and the UK, where she is now based. She also has a prolific Twitter presence, which led to her being named one of TimeOut’s Top 5 Funniest Comedians on Twitter next to the likes of Milton Jones and Steve Martin.
She has a talent for incorporating arts and crafts into her stand-up routines, creating a unique and unforgettable comedy style that she calls “paper-puppetry comedy”.

Louis Zezeran and Sami Hedberg are proud to present one of the biggest nights of English Stand Up Comedy Helsinki has seen! This month at the English Night at Apollo we have the legend himself, André Wickström along with the New Zealand master of free wheeling Stand Up, Al Pitcher!
André is a man who needs no introduction. His comedy is witty, funny and smart. He manages to keep an integrity throughout his show and at times his calm face will have you wondering how he doesn’t lose control at how funny his own jokes are. The man has style and class and is brilliant at keeping audiences laughing line after hilarious line.

AL PITCHER is a comedian who makes each show unique. He rises about most comedians with his crowd interaction, his audience never quite knowing where he’s leading them, but thrilled by the journey. With his unpredictable, unsystematic and upbeat live performances Al has consistently wowed audiences across the world. He is the master of improv, talking to the audience and creating a hilarious story from whatever he is given. He uses the audience in a twisted and fun way, without being mean about it.
Doors open at 19:30 and the show starts at 20:00 and runs for approximately 2 hours.

Benny Boot (AUS)
Australian comic Benny Boot has been performing comedy in the UK for 9 years. He is considered by many comedians as a wonderful comedian to watch. Benny was a finalist in NBC’s Last Comic Standing and was invited to the Vancouver Comedy Festival in 2005. He has performed in Edinburgh as part of the Just The Tonic Showcase (2006), for the Pleasance Comedy Reserve (2007) and debuted his first solo show last year, Set Up, Punchline…Pause for Laughter (2011). Benny returned to the Fringe with his second solo show Def-Con 4 (2012). The show sold out throughout the Fringe, and Boot put on extra shows to satisfy demand. The show received a great response from his audience and critics.
Boot delivers his jokes in a unique style on variety of strange topics. His engaging persona & material keeps the laughter rolling through the entire show and is guaranteed to bring any audience undone. Benny is considered in the industry to be one of the most original and finest joke writers in the business. He stormed the Altitude Comedy Festival this March and was the one comedian, out of a line up of top acts such as Tim Minchin, Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle that everyone – audience, critics and comics – was talking about.

NIGEL WILLIAMS (UK/BE)
Belgiums ‘no holds barred’ comedian. If you like your comedy a bit rough around the edges ,you’re gonna love this guy. Nigels act is full of energy and healthy misanthropic rants, lots of improvisation and audience participation guaranteed. ‘Like a long distance sprint of laughs with no final destination’.
He was born in Bristol UK and left school at 15, worked as factory worker/ union organiser and barkeeper before taking up stand-up comedy. His first show was called ‘The Penis Monologue’ most recent show is called ‘Believe me!!’ (about religion and other fables). Nigel has won the prestigious Belgian Humos Comedy Cup in 2000 and since then has twice been voted Comedian of the year.
He has performed in Holland, England, Scotland more recently Denmark and Sweden and is best known in Belgium for the political and social content of his humor.
CHRISTIAN SCHULTE-LOH (GER)
Christian Schulte-Loh is an international stand-up act from Germany that has performed in clubs and at festivals in more than a dozen countries.
Christian regularly performs at the biggest clubs in the UK, Germany and on the European circuit. He has been called “a funny German – the only one!” (KKUNST MAGAZINE, Belgium), and THE SPECTATOR wrote about him: “one of the most subversive acts ever”.
Christian performs in three languages: English, German and Spanish. He has toured the world, won several awards (including “King Gong” at London’s Comedy Store) and regularly appears at the Edinburgh Fringe.

In 2004, Kendall became the first comedienne to be nominated for the Perrier Award in almost a decade. She played a major role in shattering the glass ceiling for women comics and this year did her first Edinburgh Fringe Festival outing for five years.
Inspired by the birth of her daughter, Kendall questions the kind of society in which we’re raising girls: a society where educated middle-class women are pole dancing for fitness, fairytales teaches young girls to value beauty above brains, and if you watched too much MTV, you’d think lesbians sole purpose is to dance with each other on yachts and get it on whilst rap artists pour champagne on their heads.
Political but not polemical, hilarious but not haranguing, Sarah Kendall is intelligent, considered comedy delivered by one of the most acclaimed stand-ups in the industry.

Dave Thompson (UK)
Dave works continuously as a stand-up comedian, and has performed in America, The Falklands, Dubai, Oman, Abu Dhabi, and cruise ships in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Never happier than when he’s being paid to explore new places, Dave has also worked in Ireland, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Poland, Luxembourg, Austria, and Monte Carlo. Known for his one-liners and absurd persona, Dave has written material for many other comics, including Harry Hill, Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsyth, Jim Tavare, Ben Elton, and Stewart Lee.
Dave wore a Jim Henson lion costume in two films made in Hollywood for American TV. He was in eight episodes of Al Murray’s sitcom ‘Time Gentlemen Please’, and one episode of Ben Elton’s sitcom ‘Blessed’. Despite appearing in many other TV shows such as ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’, and featuring in eleven TV commercials, Dave is best known as the person inside the Tinky Winky costume in ‘Teletubbies’, which is still shown all over the world.
